Dicha prote\u00edna aparece involucrada en patolog\u00edas neurodegenerativas que cursan con demencia, como la enfermedad de alzheimer, u otras patolog\u00edas como la demencia frontotemporal asociada al cromosoma 17(ftdp-17).  en el trabajo presentado en esta tesis se ha analizado la influencia de la fosforilacion en la asociacion de tau a membranas celulares. As\u00ed, se ha observado que la fosforilaci\u00f3n del epitopo 199-202 en la regi\u00f3n rica en prolinas, es capaz de dirigir la localizaci\u00f3n subcelular de la proteina tau de membrana a citoplasma. Adicionalmente, se han realizado estudios de b\u00fasqueda de interacciones de la proteina tau con nuevas proteinas mediante el sistema de doble h\u00edbrido. Se ha descrito la posible interacci\u00f3n de la prote\u00edna tau con secuencias consenso derivadas de inserciones alu que se expresan en determinadas prote\u00ednas.  la prote\u00edna tau es el componente fundamental de los filamentos aberrantes que aparecen en las demencias descritas previamente, existiendo una correlaci\u00f3n entre su aparici\u00f3n y la demencia padecida. En este sentido, se ha estudiado el papel de los glicosaminoglicanos en la formaci\u00f3n de dichos filamentos aberrantes, asi como su papel en la estructura helicoidal que presentan. se ha analizado adem\u00e1s, el posible efecto de mutaciones en el gen de tau que son causa directa del padecimiento de ftdp-17, observ\u00e1ndose que algunas de ellas son capaces de modificar la afinidad a
