fuentes plasticas(grabados, dibujos, pinturas, relieves, fotografias) y literarias (desde las historias a los libros de viajes a los romances y letrillas populares) permite reconstruir vivamente la ciudad de jaen desde la epoca arabe al siglo xx en siete capitulos de modo exhaustivo, tras un prologo en que se recogen los aspectos formales de la ciudad.  el tratamiento dado a tales fuentes se asienta no solo en su mero descubrimiento y descripcion, sino en la simbolog\u00eda otorgada por el imaginario colectivo de la poblacion a trama urbana y edificios singulares, incardinado en su contexto historico, asi como el devenir social del crecimiento o abandono de sus diferentes barrios.  se acompa\u00f1a de una completa bibliografia, por capitulos y general asi como de extractos
