Conviene destacar que el estudio de los procesos de uniformizaci\u00f3n\/integraci\u00f3n del haz que se realiza, tiene com objetivo desarrollar una nueva aplicaci\u00f3n en el campo del tratamiento superficial de los materiales: el pulido l\u00e1ser de grandes superficies de vidrio. En cuanto a los aspectos concretos abordados, se realiza en primer lugar un estudio te\u00f3rico y experimental de las distribuciones de intensidad que se obtienen con los sistemas de integraci\u00f3n de haces l\u00e1ser de co2 de alta potencia:espejos facetados y caleidoscopios. Estos sistemas se basan en la superposici\u00f3n de diferentes porciones del frente de onda(\u00abbeamlets\u00bb) en el plano de mejor integraci\u00f3n para obtener as\u00ed una distribuci\u00f3n de intensidad uniforme. Sin embargo y tal que se analiza en el trabajo, si se utilizan l\u00e1seres de cavidades inestables que proporcionan haces monomodo de coherencia espacial y temporal elevada, la superposici\u00f3n de los beamlets origina un patron interferencial que modula la distribuci\u00f3n de intensidad. Una aportaci\u00f3n especialmente relevante que se incluye en el trabajo ha sido desarrollar un nuevo sistema de \u00abintegracion activa\u00bb que permite reducir extraordinarimente la contribuci\u00f3n no uniforme ligada al patr\u00f3n interferencial. La combinaci\u00f3n de esta nueva t\u00e9cnica de integraci\u00f3n y un sistema optico ha permitido procesar superficies de vidrio de grandes dimensiones (muestras de 80 mm de diametro). Respecto a los resultados concretos obtenidos en el pulido l\u00e1ser de vidrio, el trabajo demuestra que dicho proceso es factible en vidrios no termorresistentes con coeficientes de dilataci\u00f3n lineal comprendidos entre 80 y 100 x 10-7 \u00c2\u00bac-1.
