Se trata de un fen\u00f3meno de adsorci\u00f3n que ocurre en la superficie del s\u00f3lido. Estos complejos se han usado para detectar cov mediante la cosntrucci\u00f3n de un sensor qu\u00edmico de fibra \u00f3ptica. El sensor detecta los cambios en la potencia \u00f3ptica de un haz l\u00e1ser que atraviesa la fibra recubierta con el complejo vapocr\u00f3mico cuando se expone a vapores de cov.  algunos de los bis-etilenditiolato complejos y sus an\u00e1logos tetratiafulvalenos se postulan como mol\u00e9culas elementales para la construcci\u00f3n de s\u00f3lidos de coordinaci\u00f3n que poseyesen entre
