Se se\u00f1alan las limitaciones que presenta la forma habitual de seleccionar items en este tipo de tests. Tales limitaciones se refieren fundamentalmente al car\u00e1cter local de la funci\u00f3n de informaci\u00f3n y su insensibilidad a las caracter\u00edsticas de la distribuci\u00f3n de habilidad de los sujetos.  se presenta un procedimiento,denominado g3, que permite tener en cuenta las caracter\u00edsticas de \u00edtem en todo el continuo(solucionando el problema de la localidad) y tambi\u00e9n las caracter\u00edsticas de los sujetos (solucionando el problema de la insensiblidad o invarianza).  g3, consiste en la determinaci\u00f3n de las probabilidades de los 4 posibles resultados de una decisi\u00f3n sobre la maestr\u00eda de un sujeto. Esas probabilidades se calculan mediante integraci\u00f3n analizando los vol\u00famenes que se generan en una consideraci\u00f3n conjunta de las caracter\u00edsticas del \u00edtem, de los sujetos y del punto de corte utilizando como criterio.  en el desarrollo de g3 es posible, adem\u00e1s, especificar utilidades diferenciales para cada posible resultado, maximizando de esta forma la utilidad esperada de los \u00edtems seleccionados.  como complemento a las propuestas te\u00f3ricas se desarrolla una serie de estudios de simulaci\u00f3n que confirman las predicciones realizadas. Se apuntan, as\u00ed mismo, uan serie de posibles desarrollos futuros que incluyen la aplicaci\u00f3n a modelos de respuesta polit\u00f3micos, el an\u00e1lisis del funcionamiento diferencial de
