El area de estudio, con 7.482 km2, es una region monta\u00f1osa con vegetacion y clima variados, desde tipicamente oceanico al mediterraneo, con influencias continentales en el interior. El catalogo obtenido comprende 156 taxones, siendo lophoziacae las familias mejor representadas. Se aportan novedades no solo para la comunidad autonoma del pais vasco, sino tambien para otras regiones espa\u00f1olas en el estudio de 23 taxones a nivel de la peninsula iberica.  se ha puesto gran enfasis en la definicion ecologica de cada taxon en el area de estudio, atendiendo a la altitud, precipitacion anual media, temperaturas medias de los meses de enero y agosto, regiones y pisos bioclimaticos, relacion con el sustrato, formaciones vegetales que albergan a cada taxon y especies de briofitos acompa\u00f1antes. Se ofrecen datos sobre la reproduccion y fenolog\u00eda de la comunidad autonoma del pais vasco para cada taxon catalogado.  se aborda el analisis corol\u00f3gico sobre los elementos definidos por hill &amp; preston (1998), siendo los elementos de la franja templada los mas frecuentes y las especies circumpolares y europeas, seg\u00fan el limite de distribucion de los elementos corologicos dentro del area de estudio, lo que permite discernir cierta sectorizacion del territorio.  finalmente , se ofrece el analisis de \u00abhotspots\u00bb de diversidad hepaticologica dentro de la comunidad autonoma del pais vasco que muestra las areas de mayor concentracion de taxones en los sectores noreste y este de guipuzcoa y en los macizos monta\u00f1osos de la mitad
