No est\u00e1 probado si tratamientos a\u00fan m\u00e1s largos pueden mejorar los resultados.  objetivos:1-comparar los resultados al final del tratamiento y durante el seguimiento. 2-comparar los efectos adversos y los abandonos del tratamiento en cada grupo.3- determinar los factores relacionados con la respuesta. m y m: se incluyeron 163 pacientes, 113 varones y 50 mujeres, con una edad de 37,8+-10,9(limites 18-60). Se realiz\u00f3 biopsia hep\u00e1tica pretratamiento a 136 pacientes, hallando 68 hca leves, 42 moderadas y 26 severas. El grupo a estaba constituido por 82 pacientes que recibieron 3 mui de ifn   -2b 3 d\u00edas por semana, v\u00eda sc, durante 12 meses. El grupo b, con 81 pacientes, recibi\u00f3 el mismo tratamiento durante 18 meses. A los que eran claramente no respondedores (nr) al tercer mes se les suspend\u00eda el tratamiento. La respuesta bioqu\u00edmica o virol\u00f3gica sostenida(rbs\/rvs) fue definida por los mismos criterios aplicados a un m\u00ednimo de 6 meses, despu\u00e9s de finalizar el tratamiento. La viremia se determin\u00f3 por m\u00e9todos comerciales (amplicor monitor, roche.Quantiplex, chiron),y el genotipo por inno-lipa. Se analizaron los posibles factores predictivos de respuesta(viremia basal, genotipo, edad, sobrepeso, ferritina y sederemia basales) en todos los pacientes y en los grupos a y b. Resultados: no existi\u00e1n diferencias cl\u00ednicas, epidemiol\u00f3gicas, patol\u00f3gicas ni bioqu\u00edmicas entre los dos grupos. Ten\u00edan genotipo 1 el 77%(1b-66%, la -10%,1-1%), 3a el 17% y mixto un 3%. Tuvieron rbft 44 pacientes (53,7%) del grupo a y 30(37%) del grupo b(ds). Se obtuvieron rvft en 25 (30,5%) del a y en 18(22,2%) del b.
