Esta planificacion tiene por objeto determinar como suministrar la demanda minimizando los costes de explotacion asociados que los grupos termicos, respetando una serie de restricciones propias de estos grupos, asi como restricciones inherentes a la red de transporte. Asimismo, se determina la produccion optima de cada central hidraulica, teniendo en cuenta las restricciones asociadas a las cuencas hidrograficas.  la resolucion de este complejo problema se aborda mediante dos tecnicas de optimizacion: la descomposicion de benders y la descomposcion langrangiana. la anidacion de ambas tecnicas permite una descomposicion del problema de partida en subproblemas de menor dimension.
