La evidencia de que la eliminaci\u00f3n del exceso de estos amino\u00e1cidos es crucial para la protecci\u00f3n neuronal,ha convertido estos transportadores en efectivas dianas farmacol\u00f3gicas. En el presente trabajo investigamos la posible modulaci\u00f3n del transporte de amino\u00e1cidos excitadorios por otros neurotransmisores, distintos del glutamato y aspartato, as\u00ed como por benzodiacepinas.  al investigar el posible papel del transportador neuronal eaat3 como diana paracrina de aminas biog\u00e9nicas, observamos que los neurotransmisores norepinefrina y el precursor directo de dopamina, l-dopa, inhibieron el transporte. Tal inhibici\u00f3n no es debida a cambios en las fuerzas motrices del transportador sino a una interacci\u00f3n directa con el transportador, en el lugar de uni\u00f3n del sustrato, como indicaron los resultados obtenidos a partir de medidas de flujo realizadas con otro transportador dependiente de na+, el transportador de glucosa sglt1, as\u00ed como por an\u00e1lisis cin\u00e9ticos que mostraron una inhibici\u00f3n del tipo competitiva en los dos casos. Adem\u00e1s, los productos de oxidaci\u00f3n no est\u00e1n involucrados en la inhibici\u00f3n mediada por la norepinefrina puesto que la aplicaci\u00f3n del agente antioxidante, glutation, no pudo prevenir los efectos mediados por la norepinefrina. en el caso de l-dopa, no podemos descartar tal posibilidad.  considerando las propiedades de las benzodiacepinas (ansiol\u00edticas, anticonvulsantes), podr\u00edan estar involucradas en la regulaci\u00f3n de la transmisi\u00f3n de amino\u00e1cidos excitatorios mediante una estimulaci\u00f3n del transporte. As\u00ed pues, estudiamos el efecto de una serie de benzodiacepinas sobre el transportador neuronal eaat3 y los transportadores gliales eaat1 y eaat2, expresador independientemente en c\u00e9lulas cho y ocitos de xenopus laevis.
