Adem\u00e1s se demuestra que \u00e9ste tambi\u00e9n transporta nitrito, por lo que es biespecifico en cuanto a los sustratos que transporta. A parte del transporte de nitrito por ynt1p, se pone de manifiesto que existe un segundo sistema espec\u00edfico para el transporte de este segundo i\u00f3n. Por otro lado se presenta un segundo sistema para el transporte de nitrato que es constitutivo y de baja afinidad.  el transportador ynt1p es regulado post-traduccionalmente por la presencia de glutamina o por ausencia de glucosa. Esta regulaci\u00f3n supone la inactivaci\u00f3n del transporte de nitrato y de nitrito por ynt1p, as\u00ed como un aumento en la degradaci\u00f3n de la prote\u00edna.  los determinantes en la prote\u00edna para la regulaci\u00f3n post-traduccinal de ynt1p han sido estudiados mediante mutag\u00e9nesis dirigida. Se ha encontrado que la regi\u00f3n central hidrofilica resulta esencial tanto para la inactivaci\u00f3n por glutamina como por ausencia de glucosa.
