Esto aportar\u00eda a estas bacterias celulol\u00edticas una gran ventaja selectiva sobre otros microorganismos celulol\u00edticos que dependan de otras fuentes de nitr\u00f3geno, las cuales son escasas en estos ecosistemas. Cellulomonas sp.(C. Uda) atcc21399 es un modelo id\u00f3neo para el estudio de la degradaci\u00f3n de celulosa y quitina ya que degrada ambos pol\u00edmeros muy eficientemente, tanto aer\u00f3bica como anaer\u00f3bicamente. El an\u00e1lisis comparativo de los sistemas enzim\u00e1ticos extracelulares empleados por esta bacteria mostr\u00f3 que son distintos tanto en la composici\u00f3n de enzimas como en su regulaci\u00f3n por los substratos utilizados para el crecimiento. El sistema quitinol\u00edtico de esta bacteria est\u00e1 formado por una endoquitinasa, denominada chia, y una actividad exoquitinasa que formar\u00eda el producto soluble final de la degradaci\u00f3n de la quitina, la quitobiosa. se ha purificado y caractericado la prote\u00edna chia y se ha confirmado que se trata del componente enzim\u00e1tico principal del sistema quitinol\u00edtico de c.Uda. Se ha clonado un gen, de nominado chia, que podr\u00eda codificar para esta quitinasa. La amplificaci\u00f3n por pcr de una regi\u00f3n de otro gen de quitinasa que sugiere que, a pesar, de la simplicidad bioqu\u00edmica del sistema quitinol\u00edtico de c. Uda podr\u00edan existir m\u00e1s genes de quitinasas. el estudio de la formaci\u00f3n de biopel\u00edculas de esta bacteria sobre los subtratos nutritivos(la celulosa y la quitina) permiti\u00f3 la identificaci\u00f3n de una nueva quitinasa producida en respuesta a las condiciones limitantes de fuentes de nitr\u00f3geno e independientemente de las fuentes de carbono del medio de cultivo.
