Diversas familias de factores neurotr\u00f3ficos de diferente origen y procedencia tisular, resultan tr\u00f3ficos para las motoneuronas in vivo y in vitro. Tres de las familias de factores neurotr\u00f3ficos mejor caracterizadas con la familia de las neurotrofinas (nerve growth factor, ngf; brain-derived nedurotrophic factor, bdnf; neurotrophin-3, nt-3 y neurotrophin-4\/5, nt-4\/5, la familia del gdnf (glial cell line-derived neurotrophic factor, gdnf; neurturin, ntn; persephin, psp y artemin, art) y la familia de las citoquinas del tipo il-6 (leukemia inhibitory factor, lif; ciliary neurotrophic factor, cntf y cardiotrophin-1, ct-1). En este trabajo, hemos demostrado que la capacidad que bdnf, gdnf, ntn, psp, cntf y ct-1 tienen capacidad para promover la supervivencia de las motoneuronas de embri\u00f3n de pollo in vitro. Todos estos factores, con diferente eficacia, mantienen la supervivencia de las motoneuronas en cultivo.  los factores neurotr\u00f3ficos realizan sus efectos biol\u00f3gicos mediante la interacci\u00f3n con receptores espec\u00edficos presentes en la superficie celular. las neurotrofinas ejercen sus efectos mediante la interacci\u00f3n con los receptores con actividad tirosina quinasa trk y el receptor p75. Los miembros de la familia del gdnf reconocen un receptor multicomponente integrado por un receptor con actividad tirosina quinasa llamado ret y un miembro de la familia de coreceptores ligados a membrana con un enlace glicosilfosfatidilinositol (gpi) llamados gen\u00e9ricamente gdnf family receptor (gfralfa). Las citoquinas de la familia de la il-6, cntf y ct-1 actuan mediante la uni\u00f3n a receptores de membrana multim\u00e9ricos interados por dos subunidades transmembrana sin actividad tirosina quinasa intr\u00ednseca (gp 130 y lif beta) y una subundiad anclada a membrana con un enlace gpi.
