Este metodo permite tener en cuenta la componenente aleatoria de los accidentes y la relacion entre su frecuencia y los volumenes de trafico, asi como resolver algunos problemas que afectan a los metodos clasicos, y en particular el efecto de la regresion hacia la media. Para la aplicacion del metodo se establece un procedimiento de division o estratificacion de la red en tramos de caracteristicas semejantes. La investigacion se completa con una aplicacion experimental que permite comprobar la importancia del fenomeno de regresion hacia la media en el caso de las carreteras espa\u00f1olas y contrastar la metodolog\u00eda desarrollada mediante su aplicacion a un caso real, comprobandose su viabilidad y eficacia.
