Este es primer estudio sobre esta ruta metabolica en un organismo de este dominio. Se detectaron altas actividades de las dos enzimas clave de esta ruta (isocitrato liasa y malato sintasa) en extractos celulares de hf.Volcanii solo cuando se uso acetato (c2)como fuente de carbono. Esto demuestra que el ciclo del glioxilato funciona en este organismo, y que existe un mecanismo de regulacion de la actividad de estas enzimas. Se demuestra por primera vez la existencia de esta ruta en un organismo del dominio archaea.  se purificaron ambas enzimas con un grado de pureza suficiente para obtener la secuencia de amino\u00e1cidos n-terminal de ambas. Ambas enzimas poseen un marcado car\u00e1cter halof\u00edlico y termofilico, sobre todo malato sintasa, con un optimo de temperatura para la actividad en el rango de 50 60 \u00c2\u00bac y, con un 50% de la actividad maxima a 80\u00c2\u00bac.  los genes de isocitrato liasa y malato sintasa son cotranscritos en una sola molecula de mrna, que solo incluye estos dos genes. Este mrna es s\u00f3lo transcrito cuando hf.Volcanii crece con acetano como fuente de carbono. Estos datos demuestran que los genes de isocitrato liasa y malato sintasa estan organizados en una estructura tipo oper\u00f3n en el genoma de hf.Volcanii y que su transcripci\u00f3n esta regulada seg\u00fan las necesidades celulares. Se comprob\u00f3 que la regi\u00f3n anterior al gen de isocitrato liasa es un promotor, y que este es m\u00e1s activo cuando el acetato es la fuente de carbono.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3>Datos
