Este marco te\u00f3rico sirve de explicaci\u00f3n a la metodolog\u00eda utilizada que tiene en cuenta no s\u00f3lo los textos f\u00edlmicos en los que aparece la estrella sino tambi\u00e9n el contexto socio-hist\u00f3rico de su recepci\u00f3n -entendiendo como los discursos que construyen la imagen fuera de la pantalla (revistas de fans, rese\u00f1as, etc.) Y los que configuran el contexto de un periodo hist\u00f3rico concreto. al encuadre te\u00f3rico y metodol\u00f3gico le sigue el an\u00e1lisis de los elementos de sexo, g\u00e9nero (masculino\/femenino), raza y etnia en la construcci\u00f3n de la imagen de marlene dietrich en el per\u00edodo de su colaboraci\u00f3n con josef von sternberg. El an\u00e1lisis de su imagen en este per\u00edodo inicial de su carrera estelar es fundamental para estudiar la evoluci\u00f3n de su estrellato, tratada en los tres cap\u00edtulos siguientes que se centra cada uno en pel\u00edculas distintas -angel (angel, 1973) de ernst lubitsch, berl\u00edn occidente (a foreign affair, 1948) de billy wilder y encubridora (rancho notorious, 1952) de fritz lang. pertenecientes a g\u00e9neros cinematogr\u00e1ficos distintos y marcadas por los sucesos dram\u00e1ticos de la depresi\u00f3n, la ii guerra mundial y la guerra fr\u00eda, estas pel\u00edculas tratan de temas culturales centrales tanto para los g\u00e9neros como para los per\u00edodos hist\u00f3ricos. Siguiendo una estructura paralela, estos cap\u00edtulos desvelan las contingencias hist\u00f3ricas que encubren la leyenda m\u00edtica de dietrich y evaluan la dimensi\u00f3n pol\u00edtica de la
