Dicha especie vegetal produce un alcaloide glicosilado denominado tomatina que tiene actividad fungit\u00f3xica. En esta tesis se han aislado y caracterizado varios genes que se inducen en el hongo en presencia de dicho glicoalcaloide. en primer lugar se ha clonado el gen que codifica la tomatinasa, enzima que degrada la tomatina. La secuencia de este gen no presenta homolog\u00eda con la del gen de la tomatinasa de s.Lycopersici, otro pat\u00f3geno del tomate. la existencia de enzimas diferentes que son capaces de anular el efecto t\u00f3xico de la tomatina constituye un ejemplo de convergencia evolutiva. hemos observado que la tomatinasa de f.Oxysporum tiene homolog\u00eda con xilanasas pertenecientes a la familia 10 de glicosil hidrolasas y como la expresi\u00f3n de dicho gen est\u00e1 sujeto a represi\u00f3n por catabolito, rasgo que presentan algunas xilanasas, dicha enzima podria haber evolucionado a partir de la duplicacion de un gen que codificara una proteina con actividad xilanasa. oros dos genes inducidos por tomatina son el que codifica pantotenato sintetasa y el de una prote\u00edna homolog\u00eda con ifr-h de plantas. En la secuencia promotora de estos dos genes se ha observado el motivo stre, que se encuentra en genes inducidos en respuesta a situaciones de estr\u00e9s. Es posible que la tomatina origine una respuesta general como consecuencia del estr\u00e9s provocado a nivel de membrana. El gen de pantotenato sintetasa de f.Oxysporum complementa a un mutante de e.Coli deficiente en actividad pantoteato sintetasa, aux\u00f3trofo para \u00e1cido pantot\u00e9nico. El gen con homolog\u00eda a ifr-h tiene relevancia pues tales enzimas se han descrito s\u00f3lo en plantas. Este gen se expresa en los primeros estudios de la infecci\u00f3n, aunque no es esencial para la patog\u00e9nesis ya que mutantes con el gen interrumpido fueron igualmente infectivos que la estirpe
