Estas proteinas se pueden clasificar, en base a su homolog\u00eda de secuencia, en dos grupos: ltps (proteinas de transferencia de lipidos) y pths (pseudotioninas). La distribucion de estas proteinas en la planta es periferica en ambos casos, lo que apoya la idea de su participacion en funciones defensivas. Se ha clonado un adnc que codifica por una pth de espinaca y se ha analizado la expresion de los genes pth y ltp durante el desarrollo normal y en diferentes estreses bioticos y abioticos. Los genes pth se expresan a altos niveles en tallo, flor y raiz y en menor nivel en hoja. Los genes ltp se expresan a altos niveles en hoja, tallo, flor y a muy bajo nivel en raiz.  tratamientos con sal, ina y aba aumentan los niveles basales de expresion de estos dos genes, igual que la infeccion con el patogeno botrytis cinerea.
