Esta tesis trata del desarrollo de marcadores de adn de utilidad en la cr\u00eda de estos animales. La tesis desarrolla 5 puntos:  obtenci\u00f3n de adn a partir de plumas: la utilizaci\u00f3n de plumas para la obtenci\u00f3n de adn facilita la recogida de muestras por parte de los criadores, como alternativa a la sangre. Se realiz\u00f3 una extracci\u00f3n mediante lisis celular, purificaci\u00f3n con fenol y cloroformo y precipitaci\u00f3n con sales y etanol. el adn obtenido es de gran calidad y en cantidad mayor que el obtenido en otros trabajos publicados. Adem\u00e1s se optimiz\u00f3 para cualquier tama\u00f1o de pluma. Este trabajo ha sido aceptado en journal of veterinary diagnostic investigation y actualmente esta en prensa.  identificaci\u00f3n de un marcador de sexado: para poder determinar el sexo de los avestruces desde cualquier edad y con total fiabilidad. La aproximacion genetica se baso en el rastreo al azar con marcadores polim\u00f3rficos (rapds:random amplified polymorphic dna) y conversi\u00f3n en un marcador espec\u00edfico, que permite sexar a los avestruces mediante pcr. Se optimiz\u00f3 una pcr multiple con un control positivo de ampliaacion para todos los animales. Este ha sido el primer marcador de sexado por pcr en avestruces y el trabajo se publico en molecular ecology(1999)8,667-669.  identificaci\u00f3n individual, test de paternidad y control de genealog\u00edas: para ello se optimiz\u00f3 la amplificaci\u00f3n,mediante dos pcr multiples de un set de ocho marcadores tipos microsatelite. Estos marcadores son muy polim\u00f3rficos y presentan herencia mendeliana y codominante. Se analizaron 152 animales y se obtuvieron datos de numero de alelos, sus frecuencias, e indices de polimorfismo pic(polimorfismo del marcador), pe(probabilidad de exclusi\u00f3n) y ps(probabilidad de similitud). Los resultados demuestran que el set de ocho marcadores es suficiente para esos fines y que el nivel de polimorfismo gen<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3>Datos acad\u00e9micos de la tesis doctoral
