Este modelo tiene multiples aplicacionies potencialmente utiles que incluyen la investigaci\u00f3n de los efectos de la hipertensi\u00f3n agua en el animal consciente, asi como la identificacion de las adaptaciones cardiacas y vasculares a la hipertension cronica y su posterior comportamiento ante la reversion de sus efectos. El sistema de oclusion empleado fue completamente revisado y reforzado durante el proceso de investigacion y aporta una caracteristica importante y es que se trata de un sistema completamente implantable que no deja al exteror ningun cable o cateter. Esta particular caracteristica puede llevarse a cabo a traves de el hecho de que todos los dispositivos fueron ensamblados a dispositivos de acceso vascular o vaps (vascular access ports). Las oclusiones realizadas mediante la expansion del anillo constrictor se llevaron a cabo a partir del 6\u00c2\u00ba dia post-operatorio para permitir cierta cicatrizacion de las estructuras da\u00f1adas en la aorta. Se a\u00f1adieron siempre peque\u00f1as cantidades de suero glucosado al 50% en el interior del sistema del anillo a traves del vap con el animal despierto y sin someterle a ningun tipo de tratamieto sedante. El sistema de monitorizacion utilizado fue a traves de la utilizacion de cateteres intravasculares intraarteriales en algunos animales y en otros se empleo un sistema complejo de telemetra. ambos sistemas controlaron el nivel de presi\u00f3n arterial al que se encontraban sometidos los animales y determinaron el momento en el que se alcanzaba el valor de presion arterial diana.
