De todas las especies pertenecientes al g\u00e9nero aspergillus, la m\u00e1s importante desde el punto de vista sanitario es aspergillus fumigatus, implicada en la mayor\u00eda de las infecciones causadas por especies de este g\u00e9nero.  la elevada mortalidad derivada de estas infecciones en humanos y la ausencia de antif\u00fangicos eficaces para controlar la infecci\u00f3n sugieren el desarrollo de programas de investigaci\u00f3n b\u00e1sica en este hongo con el objeto de identificar nuevas dianas como base para el desarrollo de una terapia que culmine con el descubrimiento de uno o varios antif\u00fangicos altamente eficaces frente a aspergilosis.
