Los resultados obtenidos para mntmpyp fueron similares a los reportados por otros autores, pero en el caso de mntpps4 se encontraron diferencias que fueron atribuidas a la carga negativa en la periferia del anillo porfir\u00ednico y a su elevada tendencia a la agregaci\u00f3n. un resultado interesante se encntr\u00f3 al preparar las soluciones de mn(iii) en medio alcalino fuerte en presencia de o2, ya que estas se oxidaron espont\u00e1neamente originando las especies oxo-hidroxo mnivtmpyp y oxo-aquo mnivtpps4 (esta  \u00faltima s\u00f3lo detectable a concentraciones &lt; 1.10-6 m).Adem\u00e1s, las especies de mn(iv) no eran estables y con el tiempo se transformabaen mn(iii) causando adem\u00e1s la degradaci\u00f3n de la porfirina. Estos resultadosse justifican si se asume que los porfirinatos de mn(iv) act\u00faan como mono-oxidasasobre otros porfirinatos de mn.Los estudios realizados en medio b\u00e1sico y en ausencia de o2 mostraron quela especie de dihidroxo mniiitmpyp se auto-reduc\u00eda obteni\u00e9ndose la especiehidroxo mniitmpyp. Sin embargo la reducci\u00f3n de mniiitpps4 no fue posibledebido a que no se puede obtener la especie dihiroxo coordinada, la cuales necesaria para el proceso de auto-reducci\u00f3n.De otro lado, se evalu\u00f3 la capacidad de mntpps4 y de mntmpyp para reducirelectro-catal\u00edticamente o2. Por medio de voltamperometr\u00eda c\u00edclica (vc)se encontr\u00f3 que a valores de ph&gt; 11,5, es decir, cuando la especie de mntmpyp est\u00e1 en la forma aquo-hidroxo o dihidroxo coordinada, se produce a la reducci\u00f3n de o2 en 4 e- y donde el, proceso clave de la reducci\u00f3n de o2 es la oxidaci\u00f3n de mn(ii) a mn(iv).
