Los dos primeros cap\u00edtulos plantean la importancia de la cuesti\u00f3n met\u00f3dica en ese autor, un tanto desatendida por la bilbiograf\u00eda filos\u00f3fica usual, y estudian la articulaci\u00f3n de dicho m\u00e9todo en una serie de fases correlativas. Tal m\u00e9todo es el del autotrascendimiento: de lo exterior a lo interior, y de lo interior a lo superior. Como para este \u00faltimo paso se precisa del don de la fe, el m\u00e9todo agustiniano se propone como un m\u00e9todo donal, con las peculiaridades que tal propuesta conlleva.
