Pilar Soengas Fernandez <\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Actualmente la mayor extension de terreno dedicada al cultivo del maiz es ocupada por maiz hibrido. Se denomina un patron heterotico a una combinacion de germoplasma que muestra heterosis en su cruzamiento. Se espera que las lineas puras obtenidas a partir de estas variedades den lugar a buenos hibridos comerciales. En europa se ha empleado extensivamente el patron \u00abliso europeo x dentado americano\u00bb, que combina la adaptacion del liso europeo con el elevado rendimiento del dentado americano. Sin embargo, hasta la fecha no se ha estudiado extensivamente la variabilidad presente en el germoplasma liso europeo. El establecimiento de patrones heteroticos dentro de variedades lisas puede ser de utilidad para producir hibridos lisos adaptados a condiciones templadas europeas. A la vez, seria interesante conocer la relacion heterotica entre le germoplasma liso y el dentado del corn belt. Los resultados de este trabajo muestran que no existen patrones heteroticos definidos claramente dentro del germoplasma liso estudiado, aunque todos los cruzamientos entre variedades mostraron un rendimiento mas elevado que sus variedades parentales. Los cruzamientos gallego x basto\/enano levantino y basto\/enano levantino x longfellow mostraron los mayores rendimientos y niveles elevados de heterosis, ambos podrian ser incluidos en un programa de mejora genetica con el fin de obtener hibridos lisos. Las variedades estudiadas fueron homogeneas en su comportameinto frente a distintos probadores, representantes de diversos grupos heteroticos.
