Este comportamiento mec\u00e1nico viene determinado por sus propiedades viscoel\u00e1sticas. el conocimiento de la viscoelasticidad es de especial relevancia en las c\u00e9lulas del sistema respiratorio ya que se hallan sometidas a esfuerzos mec\u00e1nicos c\u00edclicos asociados a los procesos de ventilaci\u00f3n.  las t\u00e9cnicas de citometr\u00eda de torsi\u00f3n magn\u00e9tica (wang et al. Science 260: 1124-1127, 1993) y citometr\u00eda de oscilaci\u00f3n magn\u00e9tica (com) (maksym et al. J. Appl. Physiol. 89: 1619-1632, 2000) son t\u00e9cnicas microrreol\u00f3gicas que permiten estudiar la micromec\u00e1nica celular. Estas t\u00e9cnicas se basan en la aplicaci\u00f3n de un momento de torsi\u00f3n sobre microesferas ferromagn\u00e9ticas convenientemente revestidas de tal forma que se enlazan selectivamente a sus receptores de membrana celular, se mide la rotaci\u00f3n de las esferas inducida mediante un magnet\u00f3metro. El objetivo de esta tesis fue el estudio de las propiedades biomec\u00e1nicas de c\u00e9lulas del epitelio humano mediante citometr\u00eda de oscilaci\u00f3n magn\u00e9tica. Para llevar este objetivo  a cabo se implement\u00f3 y mejor\u00f3 un equipo de com mediante un sistema controlado por ordenador, se caracterizaron y calibraci\u00f3n de las microesferas, se desarroll\u00f3 de un algoritmo de demodulaci\u00f3n as\u00edncrona en el dominio temporal mediante ordenador que represent\u00f3 una simplicaci\u00f3n importante de la t\u00e9cnica y por \u00faltimo se desarroll\u00f3 un nuevo algoritmo de demodulaci\u00f3n s\u00edncrona en el dominio frecuencial para la medida de la mec\u00e1nica oscilatoria en un amplio rango frecuencial. Con este nuevo algoritmo se ha medido el m\u00f3dulo complejo de elasticidad (g*) de c\u00e9lulas bronquiales epiteliales humanas (beas-2b) y epiteliales alveolares humanas (a549) en cultivo de 0,03
