En 1988 sikku publica el primer trabajo que puso de manifiesto la relacion entre la infeccion por c.Pheumoniae y arteriosclerosis coronaria, mediante un estudio de seropreValencia, en el que se midieron los niveles de anticuerpos frente a c.Pneumoniae. Este peque\u00f1o cocobacilo gramnegativo, de vida intracelular obligado tiene un ciclo biologico peculiar bifasico y es capaz de producir lisis bacteriana y formas de persistencia intracelular.  c.Pneumoniae ha sido aislada de muestras biologicas de enfermos arterioscleroticos por diversos grupos, y en variadas proporciones dependiendo de la tecnica utilizada.  hipotesis:  considerar que la infecci\u00f3n por c.Pneumoniae juega un papel determinante en la patogenia de la arteriosclerosis. Para comprobarlo se deberia encontrar respuesta inmunologica significativa, y se deberia detectar a la bacteria en los tejidos vasculares patologicos de los pacientes arterioscleroticos. por el contrario en los individuos sanos no deberian tener trazas de inmunologicas de infeccion por c.Pneumoniae o al menos en menor cuantia que los enfermos, ni se encontraria al patogeno en la pared de las arterias sanas.  objetivos:  estudiar la seropreValencia de la infeccion por c.Pneumoniae en un grupo de pacientes con distintas formas clinicas de arteriopatia periferica, y en un grupo control, mediante diversas tecnicas analiticas serologicas y frente a varios antigenos clamidiales.  detectar la bacteria en tejido arteriosclerotico procedente de esos mismos pacientes de evp y en un grupo control, mediante analisis de la presencia de adn de c.Pneumoniae por reacci\u00f3n en cadena de polimerasa. Detectar a la bacteria mediante pcr en trombos procedentes de aneurismas aorticos.  recoger datos epidemiologicos referidos a factore<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3>Datos acad\u00e9micos de la tesis
