Su desove es de tipo asincr\u00f3nico y la alta producci\u00f3n total de huevos anual por hembra (2,40 a 2,86 millones de huevos\/kg) permite tener una fuente segura de abastecimiento de huevos de lenguado a partir de reproductores en cautividad. Adem\u00e1s se detecta que la gonadotropina corionica humana en dosis de 500 ul\/kg. Se muestra efectiva para inducir el desove de hembras maduras de p.Microps.  el huevo de lenguado del g\u00e9nero paralichthys es transparente, esf\u00e9rico, pel\u00e1gico y no adhesivo, posee una sola gota oleosa y un di\u00e1metro promedio de 0,80 mm. Entre los 13\u00c2\u00ba c y los 18\u00c2\u00bac su incubaci\u00f3n tarda entre 68 y 54 hrs. Respectivamente, producto de lo cual nace una pre-larva plact\u00f3nica de entre 1,7 y 1,9 mm de longitud total escasamente desarrollada y con un abultado saco vitelino. Entre los 20\u00c2\u00ba c y 13\u00c2\u00ba c dicha etapa tiene una duraci\u00f3n de 3 a 4 d\u00edas respectivamente en los cuales la post-larva alcanza tama\u00f1os inciales entre los 3,5 y 3,7 mm de longitud total y supervivencias entre los 90,7% y 98,8%. El inicio de la metamorfosis en ambas especies comienza entre los 27 y 35 d\u00edas despu\u00e9s de su eclosi\u00f3n y a tama\u00f1os entre 9,7 y 10,5 mm. Se caracteriza por la elongaci\u00f3n de 6 radios de la aleta dorsal en p.Microps y solamente 3 radios en p.Adspersus, una migraci\u00f3n del ojo izquierdo en direcci\u00f3n anterodorsal y un cambio paulatino a comportamiento bent\u00f3nico en ambas especies. La metamorfosis se completa alrededor de los 57-60 dias a tama\u00f1os entre los 13 y 19 mm de longitud total. Se comprueba la factibilidad de cultivo larval de ambas especies detect\u00e1ndose que durante sus primeros 21 d\u00edas de cultivo post-larval se produce una alta mortalidad asociada principalmente
