Carmen <\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>En la tesis doctoral se realiz\u00f3 una investigaci\u00f3n de comportamientos y procesos que intervienen en la eliminaci\u00f3n de nutrientes por humedades construidos para la depuraci\u00f3n de las aguas residuales, en concreto la retenci\u00f3n de nutrientes en sedimento, los intercambios de nutrientes a trav\u00e9s de la interfase sedimento-agua y la estructura, composici\u00f3n microbiana, actividad y funci\u00f3n en la eliminaci\u00f3n de nutrientes, del biofilm formado en la interfase sedimento-agua. Adem\u00e1s se estudi\u00f3 la eficiencia de eliminaci\u00f3n de contaminantes por humedales construidos como tratamiento secundario en una estaci\u00f3n depuradora de aguas residuales. Para realizar el proyecto, se contruyeron humedades con macr\u00f3fitos emergentes, typha latifolia, con flujo de agua superficial en el delta del ebro y en la edar de empuriabrava, y microcosmos que reproduc\u00edan los humedales construidos en los campos experimentales de la facultad de biolog\u00eda. En este estudio se concluye que los humedales construidos se pueden utilizar como tratamiento convencional en la depuraci\u00f3n de las aguas, son muy eficientes en la eliminaci\u00f3n de nutrientes inorg\u00e1nicos y su eficiencia se incrementa durante el per\u00edodo de formaci\u00f3n de un biofilm en la interfase sedimento-agua.
