Luisa Cros Miguel <\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Esta tesis trata de las algas hapt\u00f3fitas que de una manera continuada o en alg\u00fan momento de su ciclo de vida producen y llevan cocolitos. A estas algas se las llama cocolitoforales, cocolitof\u00f3ridos y tambi\u00e9n cocolit\u00f3foros; actualmente, su nombre es objeto de debate y su taxonom\u00eda est\u00e1 en continuo cambio. El trabajo ha sido realizado en el mar catalano-balear, en el noroeste del mediterr\u00e1neo.  para realizar el presente estudio se usaron muestras de agua marina recogidas a diferentes profundidades (principalmente entre los 0 y 100 metros) y tambi\u00e9n se observaron muestras superficiales de sedimentos. El reconocimiento y contaje de las especies se ha efectuado con las t\u00e9cnicas de microscop\u00eda electr\u00f3nica de barrido (meb).  a fin de comparar metodolog\u00edas, se filtraron muestras de agua marina con y sin previa fijaci\u00f3n (el fijado usado fue formaldeh\u00eddo neutralizado). se pudo observar que las muestras previamente fijadas presentaban importantes p\u00e9rdidas de cocolit\u00f3foros, especialmente de los taxones mas delicados.  en el presente estudio se han reconocido 166 cocolit\u00f3foros, de los cuales s\u00f3lo 102 especies y subespecies tienen nombre formal en la literatura. es de destacar el hallazgo de un importante n\u00famero de cocosferas combinadas, que llevan cocolitos pertenecientes a especies reconocidas como diferentes; estos espec\u00edmenes \u00abh\u00edbridos\u00bb son considerados muy valiosas para entender los ciclos de vida, ya que pueden representar un momento de cambio de fase del organismo. Los diferentes taxones hallados as\u00ed como las cocosferas combinadas encontradas, se ilustran en la presente memoria con micrograf\u00edas realizadas con el meb.  los sedimentos superficiales estudiados presentaban una alta proporci\u00f3n de restos carbonatados y escasez de restos sil\u00edcicos. La mayor parte de estos restos sil\u00edcicos se encontraron corro\u00eddos, sugiriendo que el \u00f3palo es f\u00e1cilmente disuelto en esta \u00e1rea.
