Ferrando Monleon <\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Como resultado del trabajo conducente a la tesis doctoral, hemos logrado identificar y aislar un gen de levadura (saccharomyces cerevisiae) que por sobreexpresion incrementa la capacidad de tolerancia a salinidad, y que hemos denominado hal3, conduce a una mejora del crecimiento de celulas silvestres expuestas a concentraciones toxicas de sodio o litio, y suprime la sensibilidad a sal que muestran cepas deficientes en actividad de la proteina fosfatasa calcineurina. Cepas con actividad deficiente de hal3 en las que la version silvestre de la proteina codificada fue reemplazada por una proteina tuncada, y asi inactiva, muestran sensibilidad a elevadas concentraciones de sal. La secuencia de hal3 no muestra homolog\u00edas relevantes que nos puedan dar pistas sobre su posible funcion. Sin embargo, alteraciones en las concentraciones intracelulares de cationes asociadas a cambios en la expresion de hal3, sugieren que su actividad halotolerante puede estar mediada por un incremento en el contenido de k+ citoplasmatico, reduciendo al mismo tiempo el contenido de na+ o li+. Actuando de forma concertada con calcineurina, el gen hal3 es necesario para una activacion completa en la expresion del gen ena1 que codifica para una supuesta atpasa de na+ de la membrana plasmatica que es inducible por sal. Esta complementariedad funcional de ambas proteinas tambien se refleja en la participacion para la recuperacion del crecimiento interrumpido por tratamiento con la feromona factor alfa. Recientemente otros grupos han demostrado la implicacion de hal3 (denominado sis2) en la expresion de ciclinas de g1 en cepas sin actividad de la proteina fosfatasa sit4.
