En general, el trabajo esta orientado a la justificacion teorica y empirica de la practica pedagogica surgida al amparo del llamado enfoque comunicativo en el marco general de la teoria cognitiva de adquisicion del lenguaje. Para cumplir este fin, en los distintos capitulos se abordan los siguientes aspectos: (cap.I) los resultados de la investigacion en adquisicion de una lengua extranjera a favor de la ense\u00f1anza comunicativa; (cap.Ii) el papel de la consciencia en el aprendizaje de una lengua extranjera; (cap. Iii) la presentacion de la teoria cognitiva de adquisicion del lenguaje como modelo psicolinguistico general sobre el procesamiento natural del lenguaje y la adquisicion del mismo; (cap. Iv) la explicacion del uso de algunos mecanismos gramaticales del espa\u00f1ol, entre ellos el subjuntivo, desde la perspectiva pragmatico-discursiva; y (cap v) el desarrollo del experimento dirigido
