La cortea premotora ventral (pmv) est\u00e1 bien situada para participar en este proceso ya que: (1) est\u00e1 implicada en las transformaciones sensoriales necesarias para guiar visualmente la acci\u00f3n y en las decisiones de tipo perceptivo y (2) est\u00e1 conectada con \u00e1reas sensoriales, motoras y cognitivas. Dos monos fueron entrenados para realizar una tarea de discriminaci\u00f3n visual de la orientaci\u00f3n de dos est\u00edmulos separados por un per\u00edodo de retraso. Encontramos que la actividad de las neuronas de pmv reflejaba: (a) la orientaci\u00f3n del primer est\u00edmulo y su traza de memoria durante los per\u00edodos de retraso y de comparaci\u00f3n de est\u00edmulos, (b) la comparaci\u00f3n de ambos est\u00edmulos, incluyendo la fuerza de la evidencia y (c) el resultado de la discriminaci\u00f3n (i.E., La elecci\u00f3n del mono). Despu\u00e9s de la respuesta conductual (utilizada para informar acerca de la elecci\u00f3n) encontramos neuronas que codificaban: (1) s\u00f3lo las elecciones previas, (2) s\u00f3lo las consecuencias de dichas elecciones o (3) las elecciones previas y sus consecuencias de forma simult\u00e1nea.
