Complementariamente tambien se precisa la clase de mosaico, el genero musivo y la valoracion artistica. Con este planteamiento se pretende alcanzar el objetivo de establecer su catalogacion, su posible relacion con el tiempo y en el conjunto musivo de la zona, y en las connotaciones que pudiesen tener con otros. Esta orientacion amplia el tradicional enfoque historico y arqueologico que se habia aplicado hasta ahora. Por lo que segun nuestra investigacion los mosaicos illicitanos y portoillicitanos contienen mayoritariamente un sentido plano en el reticulado del modulo-tesela, salvo en las figuras humanas del siglo iv que simulan redes alabeadas. En cuanto al modulo-motivo en la decoracion destaca tambien la sencillez de su forma y la disposicion en redes monomodulares y planas en los mosaicos mas antiguos, y la mayor complejidad que se detecta en las composiciones de los siglos iii y iv.  junto a este resultado merece citarse el hallazgo por nuestra parte de una fraccion del mosaico de farsiura, la cual se consideraba
