Existen dos tipos de contaminaci\u00f3n significativa, la que se debe al uso reiterado de productos fitosanitarios de baja-media persistencia en el medio y la que se debe al uso hist\u00f3rico de productos fitosanitarios recalcitrantes (t\u00edpicamente compuestos organoclorados). en este estudio se ha procedido a desarrollar y validar t\u00e9cnicas biol\u00f3gicas de criba para la detecci\u00f3n de plaguicidas en muestras de agua y en algunos alimentos. Asimismo, se han desarrollado metodolog\u00edas anal\u00edticas multiresiduales de extracci\u00f3n de contaminantes y an\u00ed\u00a0lisis por t\u00e9cnicas cromatogr\u00e1ficas espectrometr\u00eda h\u00edbrida cuadrupolo-tiempo de vuelo. El objetivo de estos estudios es poner a disposici\u00f3n de los cient\u00edficos herramientas que permitan mejorar el control del grado de contaminaci\u00f3n por plaguicidas. Su aplicaci\u00f3n en esta tesis ha permitido evaluar el grado de contaminaci\u00f3n por plaoguicidas al que est\u00e1n sujetos los acu\u00edferos de buena parte del norte de espa\u00f1a, especialmente de la cuenca del r\u00edo ebro, as\u00ed como su distribuci\u00f3n entre suelo y agua subterr\u00e1nea y su evoluci\u00f3n temporal. como resultados destacables cabe senyalar que la contaminaci\u00f3n de suelos est\u00e1 pr\u00ed\u00a0cticament etoda condicionada por la presencia de compuestos organoclorados recalcitrantes y sus productos de degradaci\u00f3n (ddts y endosulfan). Los suelos agr\u00edcolas tambi\u00e9n se hayan contaminados por pahs, muy probablemente provenientes de la quema de residuos vegetales. La contaminaci\u00f3n de aguas subterr\u00e1neas se debe principalmente a la lixiviaci\u00f3n de plaguicidas organofosforados y triazinas de uso reiterado que los hacen ubicuos en el
