Sin embargo, estos microorganismos han sido descritos como agentes causantes de infecciones graves a nivel urinario, endocarditis, s epticemias y neumon\u00edas. Paralelamente a este fen\u00f3meno, se ha producido un incremento en las tasas de resistencias frente a diferentes antimicrobianos entre los que destacan la familia de los macr\u00f3lidos. Estos antibi\u00f3ticos son en muchas ocasiones el t ratamiento de elecci\u00f3n en diversas patolog\u00edas en las que se encuentran implicados estos microorganismos y suponen un alternativa a los antibi\u00f3ticos beta-lact\u00e1micos en personas al\u00e9rgicas a los mismos, y a tetraciclinas en ni\u00f1os y embarazadas. La resis tencia a los macr\u00f3lidos suele estar mediada por las prote\u00ednas erm que van a modificar la diana sobre la que act\u00faa el antibi\u00f3tico, y que en el g\u00e9nero corynebacterium se encuentran codificadas por los genes erm(x). En este estudio se pone de manifiesto  la alta tasa de resistencia que existe frenta a estos antibi\u00f3ticos debido a la presencia de este gen en las diferentes especies estudiadas, as\u00ed como la presencia del gen erm(b), aunque en menor proporci\u00f3n. Otros mecanismos de resistencia como la pre sencia de enzimas hidrol\u00edticas y bombas de expulsi\u00f3n, descritos en otras especies, no fueron hallados. Por \u00faltimo, se evalu\u00f3 la posibilidad de la presencia de pl\u00e1smidos en estas esquecies que sirvieran en la diseminaci\u00f3n de estos determinantes de res istencia, pero no se consigui\u00f3 el aislamiento de ninguno, por lo que se consider\u00f3 que estos genes deben estar insertados en el cromosoma bacteriano.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3>Datos acad\u00e9micos de la tesis
