Se ha empleado como modelo el cultivo de neuronas granulares de cerebelo de rata, donde hemos puesto de relieve que sulfuro de hidr\u00f3geno ejerce un importante papel modulador de la homeostasis del calcio intracelular mediante la estimulaci\u00f3n redox de los canales de calcio de tipo l y la sensibilizaci\u00f3n redox a glutamato del receptor nmda.   tambi\u00e9n se ha estudiado la modulaci\u00f3n por sulfuro de hidr\u00f3geno de las principales fuentes generadoras de estr\u00e9s oxidativo en neuronas: mitocondria y cadena redox de la membrana plasm\u00e1tica. Se emplearon para ello fraccionamientos subcelulares de mitocondrias y ves\u00edculas de membrana plasm\u00e1tica derivada de sinaptosomas. Hemos demostrado que sulfuro de hidr\u00f3geno es un inhibidor reversible de la respiraci\u00f3n mitocondrial as\u00ed como de la generaci\u00f3n de ani\u00f3n super\u00f3xido por las mitocondrias. Tambi\u00e9n inhibe de forma reversible la actividad nadh oxidasa de la cadena redox de la membrana plasm\u00e1tica que es la responsable de la generaci\u00f3n de ani\u00f3n super\u00f3xido a nivel de la membrana plasm\u00e1tica neuronal.  en definitiva, los resultados obtenidos en la presente tesis doctoral apoyan la reciente hip\u00f3tesis de la funci\u00f3n neuromoduladora del sulfuro de
