Los miembros de esta familia se clasifican, seg\u00fan su funci\u00f3n, en proapopt\u00f3ticas y antiapopt\u00f3ticas, y dependiendo del equilibrio en que estas prote\u00ednas se encuentren en la c\u00e9lula, se producir\u00e1 o no este proceso. Una mala regulaci\u00f3n de la apoptosis al nivel de la familia proteica bcl-2 da lugar a numerosas disfunciones y enfermedades, por lo que existe un gran inter\u00e9s por comprender los mecanismos mediante los cuales estas prote\u00ednas realizan su funci\u00f3n, as\u00ed como, en base a estos mecanismos, crear terapias con esta familia proteica como diana principal. En la presente tesis doctoral, hemos examinado desde un punto de vista mecan\u00edstico y utilizando sistemas reconstituidos in vitro, dos activadores de la apoptosis, y hemos llegado a la conclusi\u00f3n de que activan la apopt\u00f3sis mediante mecanismos diferentes. Uno de ellos es el gosipol, un compuesto polifen\u00f3lico que activa la apoptosis inhibiendo a las prote\u00ednas antiapopt\u00f3ticas, al unirse a una regi\u00f3n espec\u00edfica com\u00fan a este sub-grupo proteico. El otro es bif-1 una prote\u00edna con un dominio n-bar de formaci\u00f3n de curvatura de membranas, implicada en la fisi\u00f3n mitocondrial, que activa la apoptosis, induciendo la oligomerizaci\u00f3n de la prote\u00edna proapopt\u00f3tica bax, mediante su dominio n-bar, de una manera independiente de los cambios morfol\u00f3gicos globales que n-bar provoca en
