Coordenadas para una antropolog\u00eda desde tom\u00e1s de aquino la tesis recorre el pensamiento de tom\u00e1s de aquino sobre el tema de la libertad, partiendo de la definici\u00f3n de hombre libre de arist\u00f3teles: \u00c2\u00bfllamamos hombre libre al que es causa para s\u00ed mismo y no para otro\u00c2\u00bf. El t\u00e9rmino libre como causa sui remite a una propiedad de ciertas operaciones en las que se reconoce esta raz\u00f3n formal, en tanto que son atribuibles a un sujeto que es su origen bajo ciertas caracter\u00edsticas: interioridad, espontaneidad, organizaci\u00f3n, conocimiento y reflexi\u00f3n. \u00c2\u00bfser por s\u00ed mismo\u00c2\u00bf denota un dominio especial sobre la acci\u00f3n que es atributo, en el hombre, de las potencias del entendimiento y la voluntad. Es la voluntad la que suele ser reconocida como sujeto de atribuci\u00f3n de la libertad, pero en esta investigaci\u00f3n se muestra que tambi\u00e9n es posible predicar la libertad en el entendimiento, dado el car\u00e1cter inmanente y espiritual de su actividad. En cuanto a la voluntad, se muestra c\u00f3mo su inclinaci\u00f3n necesaria al bien es compatible con la capacidad de autodeterminaci\u00f3n caracter\u00edstica de su actuaci\u00f3n libre. La interacci\u00f3n entre el entendimiento y la voluntad es abordada en el contexto del an\u00e1lisis del mal moral y de la akras\u00eda llevado a cabo por santo tom\u00e1s. La libertad como determinaci\u00f3n al fin originada en el sujeto mismo que se dirige a \u00e9l abre el tratamiento del crecimiento de la libertad mediante el h\u00e1bito.
