Cryptosporidium y microsporidios est\u00e1n considerados protozoos emergentes, mientras que giardia est\u00e1 considerada como reemergente. En este trabajo se ha determinado por primera vez la presencia en la poblaci\u00f3n humana de canarias de los protozoos pat\u00f3genos cryptosporidium parvum, c. Hominis y enterocytozoon bieneusi. Se demostr\u00f3 que la importancia de estos par\u00e1sitos en la salud p\u00fablica de las islas es mayor de la esperada. Por otro lado, se describe por primera vez en canarias la presencia de giardia intestinalis genotipo a y b en aguas residuales urbanas. Con los resultados obtenidos se demuestra que el uso inadecuado de las aguas residuales es una posible v\u00eda de transmisi\u00f3n de cryptosporidium hominis, enterocytozoon bieneusi y giardia intestinalis genotipo a y b en canarias. Con el estudio basado en los an\u00e1lisis de aguas depuradas y recicladas podemos afirmar que cryptosporidium sp. Y giardia sp. Son indicadores de contaminaci\u00f3n fecal con tanta entidad como los indicadores bacteriol\u00f3gicos. Se analiz\u00f3 la eficacia de sistemas de depuraci\u00f3n natural observ\u00e1ndose que se eliminan de forma eficaz los protozoos cryptosporidium sp. Y giardia sp., Adem\u00e1s de suponer ahorro econ\u00f3mico y reducci\u00f3n de la contaminaci\u00f3n ambiental. En el estudio de protozoos presentes en animales se identific\u00f3 por primera vez giardia intestinalis genotipo e en cabras de canarias. Adem\u00e1s, se ha identificado tambi\u00e9n por primera vez cryptosporidium hominis en palomas (columba livia), segunda especie de ave en la que se cita. Estos animales pueden ser importantes en la transmisi\u00f3n de estos protozoos en n\u00facleos urbanos. Por \u00faltimo, en la b\u00fasqueda de posibles protozoos con potencial pat\u00f3geno, se identific\u00f3 por primera vez giardia intestinalis genotipo e como pat\u00f3geno humano, demostr\u00e1ndose
