Dichos materiales son, en todos los casos, subproductos de operaciones industriales de industrias agroalimentarias o metal\u00fargicas.  la tesis consta de diferentes cap\u00edtulos enmarcados en tres secciones: (i) eliminaci\u00f3n de cromo hexavalente y trivalente (ii) eliminaci\u00f3n de cationes divalentes de metales pesados en presencia de complejantes y en mezclas multimet\u00e1licas y (iii) eliminaci\u00f3n de ars\u00e9nico utilizando un subproducto de la industria de cromados met\u00e1licos como adsorbente.  los resultados obtenidos ponen de manifiesto que ciertos residuos industriales pueden ser utilizados como adsorbentes en la detoxificaci\u00f3n de efluentes contaminados con metales pesados. La tecnolog\u00eda propuesta representa una alternativa sostenible y de bajo coste frente a los tratamientos actuales m\u00e1s costosos y dependientes, en muchas ocasiones, de productos derivados del
