El fallo es debido a la iniciacion, crecimiento y coalescencia de grietas. Las observaciones experimentales confirman el papel que juegan la oxidacion y la fatiga en la iniciacion y en la propagacion de grietas.  se analizan, desde el punto de vista de la mecanica de la fractura diversos aspectos: el apantallamiento de grietas y la rotura fragil del recubrimiento.  posteriormente, la tesis se centra en el analisis del comportamiento de grietas en condiciones de tmf:  fenomenos de grieta corta, leyes que rigen la propagacion de grietas interaccion con el entorno, fenomenos de cierre de grieta&#8230;  finalmente se desarrolla un modelo de prediccion de vida del srr99 en condiciones de fatiga termomecanica (tmf) que representa de forma simplificada el comportamiento del sistema recubrimiento-substrato durante los ensayos de
