El trabajo presentado en esta tesis se centra en el desarrollo de un m\u00e9todo para el an\u00e1lisis de la composici\u00f3n qu\u00edmica de los rayos c\u00f3smicos de ultra-alta energ\u00eda.  la t\u00e9 cnica presentada en este trabajo se basa en la asimetr\u00eda observada en la estructura temporal de las se\u00f1ales registradas por los detectores de agua cherenkov del detector de superficie del observatorio pierre auger. La amplitud de esta asimetr\u00eda var\u00eda  con el \u00e1ngulo de llegada del rayo c\u00f3smico de forma que recuerda al desarrollo longitudinal de la cascada. En esta tesis se ha demostrado que el valor de la secante del \u00e1ngulo de incidencia para el cual la variaci\u00f3n de la asimetr\u00eda es m\u00e1xima es un pa r\u00e1metro muy \u00fatil para el estudio de composici\u00f3n y est\u00e1 fuertemente correlacionado con la profundidad atmosf\u00e9rica a la que se alcanza el m\u00e1ximo desarrollo de la cascada.  el m\u00e9todo presentado se ha validado haciendo uso de simulaciones monte carlo de cascadas atmosf\u00e9ricas para dos tipos de part\u00edcula primaria, protones y n\u00facleos de hierro. Para su posterior tratamiento se han desarrollado todas la herramientas necesarias. Una vez validado el m\u00e9todo se ha aplicado a los datos del detector de superf icie del observatorio pierre auger, obteni\u00e9ndose la composici\u00f3n qu\u00edmica, esto es la fracci\u00f3n de n\u00facleos de hierro, en el intervalo de energ\u00edas, log(e\/ev) = 18.5 &#8211; 19.7. Los resultados obtenidos muestran una composici\u00f3n ligera para bajas energ\u00edas y al rededor de log(e\/ev) = 19.0 un cambio de tendencia hacia una composici\u00f3n m\u00e1s pesada.  finalmente se han estudiado las posibles fuentes de errores sistem\u00e1ticos del m\u00e9todo encontr\u00e1ndose que la mayor contribuci\u00f3n proviene de nuestra incertidumbre en los  modelos de
