Los hitos de esta formaci\u00f3n pueden situarse en 1827 con el enunciado de la ley de ohm, en 1845 con las leyes de kirchhoff, 1883 con el teorema de th\u00e9venin, 1893 con el m\u00e9todo fasorial de steinmetz, 1926 con el teorema de norton y 1952 con el teorema de tellegen. A estos temas se a\u00f1aden algunos otros para constituir un conjunto de conocimientos, que es conocido como teor\u00eda de circuitos. Pero ese cuerpo de doctrina no constituye realmente una teor\u00eda formalmente elaborada, sino que, en cierto modo, se mantiene como la reuni\u00f3n de conclusiones obtenidas desde diferentes puntos de partida. En esta tesis se muestra que toda la teor\u00eda de circuitos y, en realidad, toda la teor\u00eda de las redes el\u00e9ctricas, se puede construir como una teor\u00eda axiom\u00e1tica cuyo \u00fanico axioma es la definici\u00f3n de red de kirchhoff, que incluye, desde luego, a las dos leyes de kirchhoff. Eso significa que la teor\u00eda se desarrolla solo a partir de su axioma sin necesidad de utilizar ley o principio f\u00edsico alguno. Adem\u00e1s, el concepto de red de kirchhoff se presenta como un concepto puramente topol\u00f3gico, as\u00ed como toda la teor\u00eda que se construye a partir de \u00e9l. Eso permite que la teor\u00eda elaborada pueda aplicarse, no solo a las redes el\u00e9ctricas, sino a otros sistemas f\u00edsicos de los que se ponen ejemplos. De esa manera, los teoremas adquieren una gran generalidad y un gran campo de aplicaci\u00f3n, como se muestra que ocurre con el teorema de tellegen y el teorema de la potencia de
