El objetivo de este trabajo es colmar esta laguna estudiando el mito y su recepci\u00f3n en la cultura occidental. El primer cap\u00edtulo lo constituyen los preliminares te\u00f3ricos y metodol\u00f3gicos; el segundo se consagra al an\u00e1lisis exhaustivo del motivo central: la mujer vestida de hombre. Tras una serie de notas preliminares en torno a la significaci\u00f3n cultural del travestismo, especialmente del travestismo femenino, consideramos las variantes fundamentales en las que se presenta el motivo y los stoffe m\u00e1s c\u00e9lebres en que se encarnan estas variantes. En el tercer cap\u00edtulo, que constituye la parte central de nuestro trabajo, llevamos a cabo un estudio tematol\u00f3gico del mito ovidiano con objeto de determinar los motivos que constituyen este stoff (kernmotiv y rahmenmotive), de analizar su tradici\u00f3n exeg\u00e9tica y de comparar el texto latino con sus herederos occidentales (tanto las recreaciones expl\u00edcitas como otros textos que por un fen\u00f3meno de polig\u00e9nesis siguen un mismo hilo narrativo).
