El objetivo principal de este estudio es conocer las carater\u00edsticas sedimentarias que afectan el flujo de fluidos y gases a trav\u00e9s del sedimento y c\u00f3mo el flujo de fluidos y gases afecta la distribuci\u00f3n de hidratos de gas en este \u00e1rea, as\u00ed como algunos procesos geoqu\u00edmicos que ocurren durante la diag\u00e9nesis inicial. Los m\u00e9todos y t\u00e9cnicas aplicados incluyen el an\u00e1lisis de textura sedimentaria, mineralog\u00eda, susceptibilidad magn\u00e9tica y geoqu\u00edmica. los sedimentos de southem hydrate ridge est\u00e1n formados principalmente por cuatro litofacies: hemipelagita, turbidita, capas de cenizas y debritas. El patr\u00f3n sedimentario de hydrate ridge est\u00e1 controlado por factores clim\u00e1ticos y tect\u00f3nicos como la intensidad de la corriente oce\u00e1nica de california o los movimientos tect\u00f3nicos locales. Estos par\u00e1metros ejercen un control fundamental en la distribuci\u00f3n de los minerales de la arcilla en el margen, as\u00ed como de las facies sedimentarias que se generan, y su evoluci\u00f3n desde el plioceno medio es discutida en esta tesis. los sedimentos analizados ricos en hidratos de gas presentan una granulometrfa m\u00e1s gruesa que los sedimentos hemipel\u00e1gicos. Las capas de sedimento m\u00e1s grueso act\u00faan como conductos preferentes para la circulaci\u00f3n de fluidos en southem hydrate ridge gracias a su mayor porosidad y permeabilidad. En este contexto, fluidos ricos en metano migran a trav\u00e9s de estas capas desde los sedimentos profundos y hacia la zona de estabilidad de los hidratos de gas, donde posibilitan su formaci\u00f3n. varios frentes ricos en barita han sido identificados en los sedimentos de southem hydrate ridge. Se forman como resultado del proceso de reciclaje de la barita durante la diag\u00e9nesis inicial, que est\u00e1 controlado por la presencia de fluidos ricos en metano, la degradaci\u00f3n de materia org\u00e1nica y la presencia de sulfato. La modelizaci\u00f3n de los datos obtenidos muestra que este proceso estuvo activo en southem hydrate ridge durante un periodo de al menos 1000 a\u00f1os. Varios procesos geoqu\u00edmicos y sedimentarios son discutidos en esta tesis como posibles mecanismos que permitir\u00edan la supervivencia de los frentes de barita durante la diag\u00e9nesis, como son la precipitaci\u00f3n de carbonates o sulfuras o eventos sedimentarios. la textura sedimentaria juega un papel muy importante controlando los principales conductos para el flujo de fluidos en los m\u00e1rgenes continentales. La evoluci\u00f3n temporal de los fluidos en un \u00e1rea determinada puede ser deducida estudiando las fases minerales que se forman durante la diag\u00e9nesis
