As\u00ed, se ubic\u00f3 a la colecci\u00f3n de relatos integrados dentro del espectro est\u00e9tico de la fragmentaci\u00f3n, ya que rompe con las ideas tradicionales de totalidad, linealidad, final y centro; se defini\u00f3 y fij\u00f3 su nomenclatura de acuerdo a las caracter\u00edsticas de las obras; se propuso una tipolog\u00eda flexible y precisa, capaz de abarcar las posibilidades m\u00e1s recurrentes de integraci\u00f3n y aglutinar un conjunto de elementos sin favorecer a uno ni determinar un orden de lectura, como ven\u00eda sucediendo; se analiz\u00f3 en concreto la funci\u00f3n del espacio en la colecci\u00f3n de relatos integrados, uno de los factores m\u00e1s recurrentes de unidad del que, sin embargo, se ha dicho poco; y se delimit\u00f3 el objeto de estudio a tres colecciones de la literatura mexicana de la segunda mitad del siglo xx por representar cuantitativamente el caso m\u00e1s fecundo en hispanoam\u00e9rica y ser casos t\u00edpicos del tema propuesto para analizar.  los tres escritores pertenecen a distintas generaciones y han sido reconocidos nacional e internacionalmente. Adem\u00e1s, sus colecciones de relatos integrados descubren distintas facetas del m\u00e9xico contempor\u00e1neo por la regi\u00f3n en la que se desarrollan sus historias. el an\u00e1lisis de estas colecciones permiti\u00f3 constatar que el espacio supera la concepci\u00f3n de que sirve como mero tel\u00f3n de fondo para contar las historias.
