tesis tiene como objetivo contribuir a la aproximaci\u00f3n y entendimiento de un tema de la arquitectura portuguesa todavia poco desarrollado y conocido, mediante el estudio cr\u00edtico y comparativo de la obra del arquitecto raul rodrigues lima en su recorrido por el estado novo, entre las d\u00e9cadas de los treinta y de los sesenta, complementado tambi\u00e9n por la investigaci\u00f3n y an\u00e1lisis de su componente carcelaria en cuanto a las caracter\u00edsticas conceptuales del sistema carcelario propuesto y a la configuraci\u00f3n de las tipolog\u00edas carcelarias ques estrutur\u00f3 y formaliz\u00f3 durante el periodo cronol\u00f3gico en estudio. a pesar de las innumerables referencias que le han sido hechas en el \u00e1mbito de la producci\u00f3n historiogr\u00e1fica portuguesa sobre dichas d\u00e9cadas y sobre el conocimiento puntual de alguna de sus obras m\u00e1s importantes, como es el caso del cualificado proyecto de cine cinearte, hasta el d\u00eda de hoy ninguna investigaci\u00f3n sistem\u00e1tica ha coincidido espec\u00edficamente en su producci\u00f3n arquitect\u00f3nica, indisociable de su necesario conexto pol\u00edtico e ideol\u00f3gico, condicionante de los conceptos y de las opciones formales adoptadas. detectar las posibles contradicciones y ambig\u00ed\u00bcedades en la obra de rodrigues lima, tratando de descodificar las interpretaciones que hace de la configuraci\u00f3n arquitect\u00f3nica sobre determinadas ideolog\u00edas, fundamentalmente sobre la ideolog\u00eda penintenciaria, subyacente a la legislaci\u00f3n sobre la reforma da organiza\u00ed\u00a7cao prisional de 1936, constituy\u00f3 el punto de partida de esta investigaci\u00f3n, como hace referencia, de hecho, el
