En condiciones patol\u00f3gicas se altera en funci\u00f3n del grado de inflamaci\u00f3n articular. hip\u00f3tesis: el comportamiento reol\u00f3gico del l\u00edquido sinovial puede contribuir a clasificarlo como inflamatorio o mec\u00e1nico, ser peculiar en alguna enfermedad reum\u00e1tica y modificarse con su evoluci\u00f3n. objetivos: determinar las caracter\u00edsticas reol\u00f3gicas del l\u00edquido sinovial en distintas enfermedades reum\u00e1ticas, especialmente el \u00edndice de comportamiento no newtoniano n y ver su utilidad como discriminador diagn\u00f3stico. material y m\u00e9todos: an\u00e1lisis citol\u00f3gico est\u00e1ndar de 41 muestras de l\u00edquido sinovial procedente de 36 enfermos (4 artritis idiop\u00e1tica juvenil, 4 artritis reumatoide, 4 artritis microcristalina, 9 espondiloartritis, 11 artrosis i 9 artritis indiferenciada). Obtenci\u00f3n del correspondiente reograma por medio de un viscos\u00edmetro de cono-plato, an\u00e1lisis de los par\u00e1metros b\u00e1sicos del reograma y correlaci\u00f3n estad\u00edstica con el recuento leucocitario sinovial. resultados: la viscosidad del l\u00edquido sinovial tiene un comportamiento no newtoniano de tipo pseudopl\u00e1stico de acuerdo con la ley de potencia de ostwald. El \u00edndice de comportamiento no newtoniano n de los l\u00edquidos inflamatorios se correlaciona con el recuento leucocitario y es m\u00e1s alto (0,74) que el de los l\u00edquidos mec\u00e1nicos (0,67). Un \u00edndice de comportamiento n superior a 0,69 clasifica correctamente el 89% de los l\u00edquidos de espondiloartritis y el 75% de los l\u00edquidos de artritis reumatoide y de artritis microcristalinas, mientras que si es inferior a 0,69 clasifica el 73% de los l\u00edquidos artr\u00f3sicos pero tambi\u00e9n el 75% de artritis juvenil. La viscosidad sinovial de los l\u00edquidos de artritis juvenil est\u00e1 m\u00e1s preservada en comparaci\u00f3n con l\u00edquidos de similar grado de inflamaci\u00f3n.
