As\u00ed, se desarrollaron nuevos materiales luminiscentes cristal l\u00edquido, de alto y bajo peso molecular, capaces de generar emisi\u00f3n de luz polarizada al ser orientados uniaxialmente bien en la mesofase utilizando superficies tratadas o mediante procesos fotoinducidos. en la b\u00fasqueda de nuevos lumin\u00f3foros eficientes en la regi\u00f3n del azul, se pens\u00f3 en la preparaci\u00f3n de fluorenos que fuesen, bien cristales l\u00edquidos, o bien compatibles con matrices cristal l\u00edquido para su procesado por fotopol\u00edmerizaci\u00f3n in-situ. Progresivamente, se ampli\u00f3 el campo de posibilidades a la evaluaci\u00f3n de propiedades electroluminiscentes o incluso a su uso como emisores en la preparaci\u00f3n de l\u00e1seres basados en
