Vanessa De <\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>La induccion de tolerancia dono- especifica puede ser una alternativa para el xenotrasplante de organos. La presentacion previa en el timo de celulas de la medula osea del donante con inmunosupresion transitoria ha sido eficaz en inducir tolerancia al alotrasplante de islotes, corazon e higado en roedores. Este estudio pretende evaluar si esta estrategia es eficaz en un modelo altamente discordante de xenotrasplante cerdo-rata. Se aislaron celulas de la medula osea del cerdo de la raza large white y se inyectaron 5-6x 10 7 celulas en el timo de la rata wistar, con suero antilinfocitario como inmunosupresion transitoria en el grupo i (n=18) e irradiacion total corporal (750cgy) en el grupo ii(n=27).  el grupo iii (control, n=20) no recibio ningun tratamiento inmunomodulador. Se indujo la diabetes en la rata mediante inyeccion intravenosa de estreptozotocina y se trasplantaron 2500 islotes frescos de cerdo en la vena porta. Los islotes fueron aislados mediante digestion con colagenasa y filtracion mecanizada. Los animales en el grupo i y ii recibieron islotes de su cerdo donante de medula osea. Nueve (33%) de los animales del grupo ii presentaron normoglucemia transitoria durante 1-2 dias mientras ningun animal en el grupo i tuvo normoglucemia.  asi mismo un animal en el grupo control presento normoglucemia durante un dia. Se hallaron inflamacion de los espacios porta y un infiltrado celular semejante a los granulomas de una reaccion de hipersensibilidad tardia en las venas porta.
