La localizacion intracelular de brucella dificulta el tratamiento, ya que la mayoria de los antibioticos que han demostrado ser eficaces in vitro, no atraviesan activamente la membrana celular. Por ello, nos planteamos emplear liposomas como vehiculo para hacer llegar eficazmente el antibiotico al interior del fagocito parasitado por brucella. El exito en la aplicacion de los liposomas como transportadores depende tanto de su formulacion como del metodo de preparacion.  en este trabajo hemos realizado una serie de estudios, con diferentes formulaciones y metodos, tanto in vitro como in vivo, con objeto de obtener un tipo de liposoma eficaz para el tratamiento de la brucelosis. A partir de los resultados obtenidos in vitro sobre la estabilidad a 4 grados c y a 37 grados c en presencia de lipoproteinas sericas, asi como sobre la activacion de celulas fagociticas y transporte de antibiotico hasta el interior de monocitos parasitados por brucella, concluimos que las vesiculas mas adecuadas eran las plurilamelares estables cargadas positivamente (pc, 30% de chl, 10% de st).  cuando realizamos el estudio in vivo, con ratones infectados con brucella, comprobamos que el tratamiento con gentamicina encapsulada en este tipo de liposomas era mas eficaz que en forma libre.
